Output and Retrieval of Data
DataBug does not need to be connected to a server in order to capture information. That means your data collection can happen anytime, anywhere, regardless of networking or other issues. DataBug presents your customized data capture form to the respondent, and upon completion of the form it creates an encrypted data record and stores it in memory.
DataBug will then connect to securely transmit the data to the Landel transfer point. Connections occur on a schedule that you direct, which can be anything from immediately upon capturing a record, to once a day after business hours, or anything in between.
Once at Landel, the raw data is decrypted and converted into standard XML and made available for retrieval.
Customers retrieve data by way of SSL query, which can be done easily through automated systems or using a common web browser.
DataBug is meant to be easily used by your company’s systems. Let’s say, for example, that your company is a chain of pet stores and it already has a database with customer information. You want to use DataBug to add to that database, and you want the integration to be as simple as possible. You want to collect customer names and what kind of pet they have, and your database already has field names of <first> and <last> and <pet>. DataBug can be customized to use those same field names in its XML output, so the data will flow to the proper places in your existing database. Turning to the data fields, DataBug can send values such as “Dog” if your database currently uses “Dog” — or “5” if your database uses a code for “dog” instead of the word itself. Since DataBug can customize the field name AND the field value, it can create data that is easy to import into your existing systems.
Most commercial customers make simple and automated SSL queries many times throughout the day to securely retrieve all their data from the Landel transfer point. Simple queries to this central transfer point make it easy to keep data flowing into your company from remote sites, no matter how many remote sites you have and no matter where they are.
Smaller customers with simpler data needs or without IT staff can securely retrieve data using a simple web browser.
